The Hernando County Arts Council announces its Community Arts Grant Program for 2017. Hernando County art, civic, or cultural organizations recognized as non-profits or charitable groups may apply for grants up to $500 to help encourage the creative arts in Hernando County. Applications are due January 13, 2017, and funded projects may take place Feb. 20─Dec. 31, 2017.
Funding for the grants program comes from monies generated from the sale of “Florida State of the Arts” specialty license plates in Hernando County. “Over the years, grantees have used these grants in many creative ways to educate, produce, and promote art in Hernando County,” said Emilio “Sonny” Vergara, Council chair. “These grants are truly an investment in the community.
The program helps the Council achieve its mission of encouraging, promoting and supporting all the creative arts in the county.”
